This was another morning visit to Barton Park to photograph birds.
Like my previous visit, I was hoping to photograph an Australian Spotted Crake. But this time, I had to be a lot more patient. I eventually spotted one, and only got some pretty average photos.
The other birds I saw were a bit different to what I had seen on my visit two days earlier. While waiting to see if the Crake would appear, I seemed to spot a lot of other small birds.
Red-browed Finch
New Holland Honeyeater
Spotted Pardalote
Great Egret
Silvereye
Superb Fairy-wren
Golden-headed Cisticola
Yellow Thornbill
White-faced Heron
Golden Whistler
Collared Sparowhawk
Superb Fairy-wren
Crested Tern
Yellow-rumped Thornbill
Pied Stilt
Willie Wagtail
White-faced Heron
Australian Spotted Crake
I had been watching a group of foraging Dusky Moorhens and suddenly noticed the Crake was foraging very close to them.
Yellow-faced Honeyeater
As I was leaving, I disturbed a group of Brown Quail foraging near the concrete bridge over the Spring St Canal. They all rapidly dispersed. I wanted to see if they would come back – but not while I was there.
And no sign of the Scarlet Robin.
