After the Mudlarks Bird Survey, I set off walking down the Cooks River looking for more birds. I then went to Barton Park and stayed there for an hour or two.
Here are some of the birds I saw –
Royal Spoonbill
I saw two Australasian Grebes in the Cooks River. An unusual place to see them.
This Striated Heron flew downstream.
Little Pied Cormorant
I was on the lookout for Sacred Kingfishers. I spotted one at Gough Whitlam Park. But is soon flew off to the far side of the River.
At Tempe, I caught a bus down to Barton Park. At the Landing Lights Wetland, I soon spotted an Australian Spotted Crake. But while I was photographing it, three Brown Quails, foraging nearby, suddenly took off and their noise spooked the Crake.
