I visited two venues during the day – Barton Park in the morning and then Hawthorne Canal in the late afternoon. At both places I was on the lookout for birds.
First – Barton Park. I spent all the time at Landing Lights Wetland.
Silvereye
Great Egret
Then I noticed a noisy Magpie flying very fast.
It was trying to drive off a Brown Goshawk.
Little Pied Cormorant
Pied Stilts
Little Corellas
The Brown Goshawk made another very brief appearance.
New Holland Honeyeater
White-plumed Honeyeater
All of a sudden many of the Pied Stilts suddenly took to the air.
They do this if a raptor is around. I looked but could not spot the Brow Goshawk or any other bird of prey. The Pied Stilts, 27 of them, left the wetlands and flew south.
I counted 5 Pied Stilts remaining.
Red-browed Finch
Then the last of the Pied Stilts also flew off, south.
Hawthorne Canal
Magpie Lark
Striated Heron
Australasian Figbirds
