Morton Park Tawny Frogmouth Update – 13 December 2023

In the afternoon, I walked down to Morton Park on Canterbury Road to check the status of the nesting Tawny Frogmouths.

I soon located the nest – very high in a tree, and hard to see clearly. The male was still sitting on the nest and there was no sign of chicks. This bird has been sitting on then it’s now for a very long time, and so I think the eggs may be unviable.

Two other local bird watchers then arrived – Michael and Fiona. Michael soon located the female perched nearby –
