Birdwood Gully – More Fungi and Birds – 19 January 2024

Another hot day was forecast, so I decided to head up the Blue Mountains and spend the morning in a cool gully. I looked for fungi at first and then after lunch – birds.

I had seen some good fungi on a visit the week before, and I was hoping more would be out.

Here is some that I spotted –

Boletelus sp.

Hygrocybe sp.

Entoloma sp.

Rimbachia cf. bryophila

Hygrocybe sp.

Entoloma sp.

Tremella sp.

Hygrocybe sp.

Cyptotrama asprata

Mycena sp.

Strobilomyces sp.

Hygrocybe sp.

Trogia sp.

Tylopilus ballouii

Bolete

Hypholoma sp.

Clavulinopsis sulcata

Dacryopinax spathularia

Amanita section Roanokenses

Russula sp.

Cordyceps cranstounii

Trogia sp.

Very tiny – growing on roots –

Russula sp.

Jelly Fungus

Boletellus sp.

And for some of the birds –

Black-faced Monarch

This one is a juvenile –

White-throated Treecreeper

It was now getting quite hot, so I headed back to Springwood township.
