This was a morning trip to Barton Park and Landing Lights Wetland. Not that many birds were active – but the mosquitoes near the wetland certainly were. So I did not stay near the pond or in the mangroves for very long.
Walking from the bus stop, I saw this White-faced Heron in Riverine Park –
It then flew over to the Landing Lights Wetland.
There was also a Great Egret –
Chestnut Teals
Pied Stilt
Around the hinterland of the wetlands, some Superb Fairy-wrens –
In the old sporting fields near the Golf Firing Range, I spotted a Nankeen Kestrel –
As I waited for the Kestrel to take-off, two Australasian Darters flew overhead –
Photographing the Darters, I missed the Kestrel’s take-off.
After this the Kestrel flew out of the area.
New Holland Honeyeater
Superb Fairy-wren
Little Pied Cormorant
The Great Egret was still at the wetlands –
It then flew away –
As I was leaving, I spotted it in the Spring St Canal. It had caught a skink –
The skink had releases its tail, but was holding the tail in its mouth. Strange!
