Wolli Creek Visit – 21 February 2024

Rainfall data had shown a reasonable fall of rain at Marrickville Golf Course, the crest weather station to Wolli Creek Regional Park, so I thought I would pop over to see if any fungi was out.

It turned out very little fungi was out.

I started from Girrahween Park, and walked upstream first, a bit past Paperbark Creek, then returned and walked back down to Girrahween Park and a bit downstream along the Two Valleys Track, then returned back to Girrahween Park.

This is perhaps Tyromyces merulinus

Here is a Water Dragon at Paperbark Creek –

And a Water Skink

Two Leaf-curling Spiders

New Holland Honeyeater

Red Wattlebird

Walking back across the lower part of Girrahween Park, I came across this strange growth. It was growing in the flattened grass. I thought it was a slime mould, but perhaps it is fungal –

Mycena sp.
