Terrys Creek Walk – 25 February 2024

I was keen to revised the Terrys Creek area to see if certain fungi was out. And iff the fungi was poor then I would be able to find some birds to photograph.

Like my last trip, I walked down to the creek from Epping Station. When I reached the creek, I first walked upstream along the track on the true right bank. I was looking for Powerful Owls, but did not spot any. There was some fungi out however.

This one with spines, was a very thin crust on the end of a cut log –

Puffball  – Lycoperdon sp.

I am not sure what this is, perhaps a Russula sp.

Mycena sp.

This polypore was growing at the base of a tree. I think it is Inonotus albertinii.

Entoloma sp.

This species was fairly abundant along the creek. It is the same as one above. Perhaps Russula sp.

I found these small ones growing on a dirt bank. Perhaps Arrhenia sp.

Entoloma sp.

Further downstream, I spotted one Powerful Owl. It had a Ring-tailed Possum.

It took some patience to photograph this Eastern Whipbird

And another polypore. This one growing at the base of an Angophora costata.  Again, I think it is Inonotus albertinii.

Last visit, I found a lot of this beautiful pink coral fungus. This time I only found one. Ramaria sp.

When I reached the Land Cove River at Browns Waterhole, I stopped for lunch. Then I crossed the river and continued along the fire road downstream. I wanted to check for fungi at a spot near the track.

Drosera sp.

Grey Fantail

Brown Gerygone

The fungi I was looking for was not out, so I walked to one of there streets of Turramurra and caught a bus to Turramurra Station.
