Good news! The NSW State Government has announced some parcels of land has been added to Wolli Creek Regional Park. I attended the announcement press conference at Turrella Reserve (part of Wolli Creek Regional Park).
The announcement was made by NSW Premier, Chris Minns, with a number of nearby local members and relevant ministers in attendance.
When he arrived, the Premier congratulated members of the Wolli Creek Preservation Society for their campaigning to have the land added to the park.
The Guardian has a report on the additions with a good map showing the parcels of land that have been added. The most important of these is the portion of land that Nanny Goat Hill is located on. This is right next to Turrella Reserve. The additions increase the size of the Regional Park from 45 hectares to close to 50 hectares. There are about another 5 hectares of land to be added to complete the park.
Much of the credit for the additions is due to the tireless campaigning of Peter Stevens, currently Vice President of the Wolli Creek Preservation Society.
The Wolli Creek Valley is a very important bushland remnant and the residents of Sydney are very lucky to have it preserved.
