Terrys Creek Walk – 31 March 2024

I was keen to get out outdoors and a walk down Terrys Creek sounded like a good idea. Valerie was keen for a walk, and had never  visited this creek before. She was happy yo drive us both up to Epping. I was hoping for some fungi – but during the day, I didn’t even unpack my tripod and fungi camera. But there were some birds – and the highlight was spotting three Powerful Owls.

The first Powerful Owl we saw was roosting high up in a tree, and partially hidden behind foliage –

Looking in various trees – we spotted another large bird – a Brush Turkey

Lower down, a White-browed Scrubwren

We checked out a few other spots where I had seen Powerful Owls before and at one of these spots we saw a pair of Powls.

While we were photographing that one, we turned around and saw the second in there pair watching us –

We then continued down the creek.

Crimson Rosella

Near Browns Waterhole, I showed Valerie a rock that has some faint Aboriginal engravings. They are all Kangaroo footprint engravings.

Then we stopped for lunch, and then slowly started waking back up Terrys Creek.

Rainbow Lorikeets

Brown Gerygone

Grey Fantail

Golden Whistlers

Satin Bowerbird

Jacky Dragon

This had been a very pleasant and interesting day out. Thanks to Valerie for company, and for driving up and back.
