It had been a while since I visited Nurragingy Reserve at Doonside. I had been wanting to go there for a while, but I was not keen to who during railway track work, and it was also closed for a while due to flooding.

This visit proved to be fairly quiet in terms of the birds I photographed. I was after Sacred and Azure Kingfishers – but saw neither. And no Blue-faced Honeyeaters or other interesting birds.
Here are some that I did see –
White-faced Heron

Little Pied Cormorant

Australasian Darter

Australian Wood Ducks

Eastern Rosella

I walked slowly along the perimeter fire trail twice, but this yielded few opportunities for bird photography. I could hear some birds – but they seemed to want to stay in the thickets.
Brown Thornbill

This Yellow-faced Honeyeater, part of a migratory flock, stopped off to eat an insect.

Great Egret

This Turtle is an invasive species –

Laughing Kookaburra and Noisy Miner –

Brush Turkey

Great Egret

On the second walk around the perimeter fire trail, I could hear a group of Noisy Miners going crazy. Was there a raptor around?

I spotted the cause of the Noisy Miner’s discomfort – a Brown Goshawk –

As I was leaving the Reserve, I bumped into Natasha, another bird photographer. Thanks to her for pointing out this Helmeted Guinea-fowl. It is probably an escaped bird, and one I have seen before at Nurragingy.
