This was a return visit to check the status of the Parrot Waxcaps, that I had seen earlier, located in rainforest near the Lane Cove River.
My previous visit had been on the 5th of June, and I had only found a single one of the Gliophorus psittacinus group waxcaps then. It was an old specimen. On this visit, I was pleased to find quite a few fresh ones.
On the walk in, I stopped to look at a small fungus I had sene growing near the base of an Angophora. I had thought it may have been Hydnellum fraudulentum. But I am not sure about this identification.
Hygrocybe reesiae
And here are the new Parrot Waxcaps. Gliophorus psittacinus group –
In the above photo you can see the variable colour.
This one was hiding behind some leaves. I moved them out of the way. Note the two little ones at its base, and note that they are orange.
Ramariopsis sp.
I then found three more of the Gliophorus psittacinus group –
There are two old ones and the small red one on the left.
Ramariopsis crocea.
Clavulinopsis corallinorosacea
Cuphophyllus austropratensis
Clavulinopsis amoena
Clavulina cinerea
Ramaria sp.
Cortinarius sp.
This was a good trip – and I was very pleased to see eleven of the Gliophorus psittacinus group waxcaps in total (if you include the very small ones).
