After the Greenway Bird Survey, I travelled to Maroubra Beach, where I met Sue, and then we headed out into Malabar Headland National Park.

Just after the carpark, we spotted a Black-shouldered Kite perched on top of a pole. This was a good start to our visit.

Nearby, a New Holland Honeyeater was hunting for insects.

The Kite had a yawn –

And I was ready when it took off –

We then walked out to near Boora Point. We could not spot any Peregrine Falcons.
Here are some Humpback Whales –

Dolphins

Superb Fairy-wren

We only spotted our first Peregrine Falcon around 2:30 pm. One flew past.

Baitfish –

Our friend Alana arrived as stayed for a chat, and to watch the Falcons.
Then the Peregrine Falcon returned and did some nice fly pasts.

It landed on a bush on top of the cliffs.

Dolphin

The Peregrine Falcon then did some more fly pasts.

And it landed a bit further along.

Below were more Dolphins –

Back to the Peregrine Falcon –

It moved to a lower ledge –

Then the second Peregrine Falcon flew past, and this one took off and followed it. WE sat and waited to see if they would return.
Then all of a sudden, one did appear, but there was more. It was flying very fast.

It was being pursued by a Black-shouldered Kite.

The Black-shouldered Kite chased the Peregrine Falcon out of the area, then did a bit of token hunting.

Later, a Peregrine Falcon returned and landed on the lower ledge, close to where I had seen a scrape –

Then it took off –

We then started walking back to Maroubra Beach. On the way, Alana pointed out a Microtis sp. Orchid –

And at Magic Point, we spotted a Nankeen Kestrel –

And a bit further along, there were some Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos foraging in the heath –

So, after a slow start, it had turned out into a reasonable visit.
