I headed up to Long Reef on the Northern Beaches for another day of bird photography. And, with the aim of photographing raptors.

When I arrived, I spotted two Ospreys perched on the cliffs on the northern side of the headland.

I could not see the Ospreys when I got two the bottom level due to high tide, so I waited hoping they would hunt nearby.
Little Pied Cormorants

Sooty Oystercatchers

A juvenile White-bellied Sea Eagle was the first raptor to appear.

This Magpie had caught an insect –

Then an Osprey appeared and started hunting for fish.

It dived, but pulled up.

The Osprey flew off, and a bit later I noticed a lot of the birds on the island had taken to the air. I looked around for a raptor.

I spotted a White-belled Sea Eagle, It was diving.

But it pulled out of its dive.

Here is an Osprey diving –

And it was successful.
Another Osprey –

Not successful.

The Sea Eagle returned.

It was being harassed by a Raven.

I later saw the Sea Eagle on the island with fish.

It was almost time to head home. As I climbed up to the lookout, another Osprey flew past.

The Osprey landed on the talus, but it was then harassed by a Nankeen Kestrel.
