In early September, Bob and myself had visited some great Aboriginal art sites near the Putty Road. We were keen to see more, and on this second trip were joined by Doug. On this trip, we walked along a fire road that followed a creek. Along this valley are quite a few sites of interest.

Here is where we parked –

Site 1
This was a very small overhang. But despite its size, it contained some amazing art.

It had some “sunburst” type motifs. One large and one small, in white ochre. There was also a boomerang and shite hand stencils.

Here are some iDStretched photos –

The cave contained many faint hand stencils.

Site 2
This was a much larger overhang. It contained a lot of art.

There were many white hand stencils –

And these white lines and white dots –

There were lots of very faint hand stencils –

Now for some iDStretched versions –

In the middle of the photo below, there is a red ochre motif. It looks like a human figure. There is a faint white circular motif to the right of it.

We then walked further down the valley. I spotted one orchid –
Red Beard Orchid – Calochilus paludosus

Site 3
Another fairly small overhang with some interesting art.
Here is some charcoal art –

And a bird footprint in charcoal –

Here is a small human figure in charcoal –

And here in white is a snake –

iDStretching also revealed quite a few red ochre hand stencils –

We then continued downstream even further, but it looked slow going. So I decided to stop and walk back to the car. But Bob and Doug continued on and visited two more sites. One of them sounded interesting.
Gompholobium grandiflorum

Dillwynia elegans

Another orchid – Caladenia catenata

Dillwynia elegans

Mitrasacme polymorpha

a pair of Eastern Yellow Robins –

It had been a very interesting day seeing this amazing art.
And – thanks to Roger Lembit for some of the flower i.d’s.
