I met Sue in the city, and we headed to the Botanic Gardens with the hope of spotting the resident Powerful Owls. On this visit we spotted both the pair quite easily.

We then wandered down to the ponds to see what birds were there.
Little Black Cormorant
The cormorant dived and returned with some leaves.
The leaves must have been nesting material –

On the islands in the large pond, there were quite a few cormorant nests.
