It had been a while since I had visited Long Reef, which has lately been the best location in Sydney to photograph Ospreys.

The weather was very pleasant, and the tide was high. This was good because the Operas can hunt in the shallow water that voters the rock platform, and this can bring them closer. I did get the chance to photograph many diving attempts but not many resulted in the bird catching a fish.
Here are some photos –

Then A White-belled Sea Eagle arrived.

The Sea Eagle was being attacked by the Ospreys.

One of the Ospreys had a fish, and that was what probably attracted the Sea Eagle. Thye often steal the Osprey’s fishes.

Things then we nt quite for a while, until the Sea Eagle left the area. Then the Ospreys resumed their fishing attempts.

Welcome Swallows were also hunting. But their prey were flying insects.

Finally successful dive!

As I was leaving, a White-bellied Sea Eagle appeared.

This time it was harassed by Magpies.
