I visited Long Reef up in the Northern Beaches again for another very good session of bird photography. It was a good day to photograph the local Ospreys.
Not long after I arrived, I spotted an Osprey on the hunt –
The Osprey dived –
I had caught quite a large fish.
Then there was aa bit of a lull, but a Nankeen Kestrel had arrived and was hunting nearby. Here it has a grasshopper or similar –
Then two Ospreys arrived.
They seemed to be flying together.
The Ospreys left, so back to the Nankeen Kestrel –
The Kestrel spots some prey and dives.
It pulls out of its dive.
And hovers again.
Then dives again –
It seems the prey escaped.
More hovering.
It dived put of sight, and returns with some food
Now, an Osprey has arrived.
It spots a fish –
Looks like the fish escaped.
The Osprey circles around, using the uplift near the cliffs to regain ts height. Then it spots another fish.
Again, it missed the fish.
Another dive –
And another failure.
Another try.
This time success.
Another Osprey arrives and starts hunting.
It pulls out just before hitting the water.
The tries again –
No luck this time.
And just before I left to go home, a White Bellied Sea Eagle arrives.
