Northern Beaches Birds – 3 September 2018

I made another trip to the Northern Beaches area for some more bird photography. The weather was not ideal – it was raining on and off during the day, but I managed to do quite well.

I was able to get some good photos of a Peregrine Falcon in flight. It didn’t stay around for long though.

Nearby where some Superb Fairy-wrens –

I then moved off to some wetlands, on the way I saw an Egret flying past one of the car parks.

Walking around a lagoon, I saw some Black-winged Stilts and a Buff Banded Rail.

A bit further along were some more Superb Fairy-wrens and a Wattlebird –

Further along, I bumped into  large group of walkers. I knew Shiela and Esther from the group and stopped for a chat. They were on their way from Narrabeen to Manly.

Nearby were more birds –

I also saw a large nest and wondered what bird had made it –

Further around the lagoon I saw am Eastern Yellow Robin and a Butcher Bird –

I then headed back to where I had seen the Peregrine Falcon to see if it had come back.

I say quietly at a vantage point and waited. Some more bird photographers arrived and we had a chat. Then we spotted the Falcon flying past below the cliffs. It circled past us a few times and I was fortunate to be quick with the camera and grab some nice photos of it in flight –

Nearby was a Rainbow Lorikeet and a Wattlebird –

I then headed back towards the lagoon area, and took a few more photos of what was probably the same Egret I had seen earlier –

To finish, another Superb Fairy-wren.
