Birds Along the Cooks River and at Barton Park – 20 October 2019

This was another interesting day spent in my local area photographing the birds. I stared by cycling along the Cooks River to check out how the tawny Frogmouths were doing. Then I continued along the cycleway to Barton Park and the Landing Lights Wetland.

On the Cooks River I checked out the nesting Tawny Frogmouths. First near Younger Avenue –

And then at the Dog Area –

At the Boat Harbour, I could not see a nest, but did spot one Tawny Frogmouth –

I then made my way to Landing Lights Wetland in Barton Park. Here are some fo the birds I saw.

Pied Stilt

This one was sitting on a nest.

It later got up to see if the eggs had hatched.

Some Pied Stilt chicks –

White-faced Heron

Black-fronted Dotterel

Sharp-tailed Sandpipers

Welcome Swallow

Fairy Martin

Around the wetlands were quite a few Golden Headed Cisticolas

Up at Barton Park I spotted some Horsefield’s Bronze Cuckoos

Some Yellow-rumped Thornbills

And the usual Superb Fairy-wrens

And some nice flying by a pair of Grey Teals
