Fungi and Slime Moulds at Birdwood Gully – 26 February 2020

I made another visit to Birdwood Gully at Springwood, to look for fungi.

Hygrocybe miniata

There was not a huge abundance of fungi out, but I did manage to find some nice fungi and slime moulds. Here are some of the fungi –

Coral Fungi

Boletes

Like on my previous visit, I came across a strange Polypore growing in soil, that I don’t know. Its only about 1 cm tall.

And some of the other fungi –

Slime Moulds

Hello Dave, your fungi shots inspired me to visit the area yesterday.
Unfortunately, I didn’t find any of the nice ones that you saw.
However, I did find a good lot on a log near the creek and a few pitch black ones near the path. All in all, a good day out. Thanks for your blogs. Always most interesting to read.
I will try out Sassafras on Saturday and Coachwood in Blackheath on Sunday.
    Any tips/ suggestions?
    Cheers

    Norbert

I should be having look down Birdwood again on Friday. Some of the good spots are a little off the track – along the creeks. Often when you see one fungus – look around carefully – often there are more close by.
