I had not been satisfied with what I had been able to photograph the day before at Barton Park, so I decided to make another visit. But this time, instead of starting out at Tempe, I decided to start out at Sydney Park.
I found Sydney Park a bit crowded, and after making a few circuits of the ponds, I thought there was not too much to see. So I left and caught a bus down the road to Barton Park. I went first to Landing Lights Wetland. It was much the same as the day before had been. Not many birds in the main pond. I did spot a few Black-fronted Dotterels like the previous day.
Around the perimeter where not too many birds about. So I headed to the Mangroves – again quite. I climbed up onto the sporting fields. Here were few New Holland Honeyeaters –
I also found some Red-browed Finches –
Near where you descend to Muddy Creek, there were some nice Superb Fairy-wrens around –
Flying overhead, at great speed were some flocks of migratory honeyeaters. Mostly Yellow-faced Honeyeaters –
I met a friend and his partner on the cycle track, and after talking for a bit, I spotted a raptor flying past. I walked back up to the sporting field area, and after looking around a bit, I saw it in the distance. It looked like a Brown Goshawk –
I then could hear a Grey Butcherbird making its call –
It flew over and perched on one of the lights and kept calling. Another one perched nearby, and then flew closer for am interaction. I am not sure if it was friendly or not.
I then descended back down to the Wetlands. All that I could spot were the Dotterels –
And some wasps –
