This was more or less repeat of the exercise trip I had done on 23 April. I stared off walking through Tempe Wetlands, then visited the nearby wastelands and continued around Tempe Reserve. Then I made my way to Barton Park.
Like the previous trip, I did not see too much at Tempe Wetlands. Things were very quiet. At the wastelands I looked around for the raptors I had seen on previous visits – but no luck this time. I did have some success photographing some smaller birds.
Here is a Superb Fairy-wren –
And a Red-browed Finch –
Here is a Golden-headed Cisticola –
And walking towards Tempe Reserve along the Alexandria Canal I spotted this Australian Raven with a golf ball. I think they mistake them for eggs.
I saw a Striated Heron at Tempe Reserve, but it was a long way off, and when I got close to where it had been, it was gone. I then made my way on the 422 bus to Barton Park.
At the Landing Lights Wetland, I spotted a Great Egret. There were few other birds around.
Here are some Chestnut Teals –
Some logs near the boardwalk were covered with wasps. I am not sure what they are doing – perhaps trying to mate with a female? But certainly interesting to watch and photograph with the comfort of a long telephoto lens.
Around the far side of the pond, a White-faced Heron was posing –
I climbed up to the sporting fields at the higher level. Two Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos flew over –
The I saw a Brown Goshawk make a very brief appearance.
In the far distance and very high up, I spotted two other raptors. Looking at the photos after, they seem to be Eastern Osprey.
A last photo – a Superb Fairy-wren –
