Kangaroo Creek Walk – 1 June 2020

It was good to be able resume going on bushwalks with the National Parks Association of NSW. I enjoy Brian Everingham’s walks as they go to interesting places, and there is always time to look at interesting aspects of Nature and to ask questions and take photos.

This walk, was from Engadine to Kangaroo Creek, then a climb up the far side and around Robertsons Knoll and then back to Engadine. In the party, as well as Brian and his wife Faye, were Sue, Allen, Roger, Helen, Claire, Ross and myself.

We made good time to Engadine Creek. On the way, we noticed a few wildflowers. Here is some Drosera –

And some fungi –

At Kangaroo Creek, we stoppe for a break.

Here is a New Holland Honeyeater

Its a pleasant spot mot far from Audley. As we were resting, a large flock of Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos flew over. There must have been around 100 of them.

A little later a Little Eagle flew past –

We then crossed the creek and climbed up to do the loop around Robertsons Knoll.

The highlight of this part was spotting some Scarlet Honeyeaters

And a Yellow-faced Honeyeater

Back at Kangaroo Creek we stopped for lunch.

As we walked back to Engadine, we again saw the Yello-tailed Black Cockatoos. This time there were more. Perhaps 200 in the flock.

Thanks to Brian for organising this wonderful outing.
