in the afternoon, after helping with the Greenway Bird Survey, I decided to walk down the Two Valleys Track, along Wolli Ck, from Bexley North to just below Turrella.
In the first part of the track, I did not see much fungi or birds. I ddi photograph some Greenhood Orchids –
Pterostylis nutans
Pterostylis concinna
But I hardly used my camera before the rock climbing area. I looked around there for fungi, with no luck. I kept on walking and descended to the lower area near the creek level. Here I did find a few green waxcaps.
Gliophorus graminicolor
It was a start. I continued down to Turrella Reserve and crossed it and followed the track to the old Quarry area near the M5 Exhaust Stack. On my previous trip, this area was starting to look good. Now, it was even better. Quite a few fresh waxcaps were out.
Gliophorus graminicolor
And there were some black clubs –
Geoglossum cookeanum
Clavulinopsis sulcata
This waxcap looked a bit washed out. Hygrocybe sp.
Ramariopsis sp.
Geoglossum sp.
This one is probably Gliophorus graminicolor –
Pluteus lutescens
And I found a nice grove of fresh red waxcaps. They seem to have golden yellow gills, so are likely to be Hygrocybe collucera –
I also found a single green waxcap. It may be Humidicutis viridimagentea. It seems to have the right coloured gills.
These black clubs have fine hairs, so are Trichoglossum hirstutum –
And some more of the brain like Calvatia craniiformis –
And an Earth Star – Geastrum pectinatum –
on my way back to Turrella Station, I did a little bird photography. Here is a New Holland Honeyeater.
Here, it has caught an insect –
And a pair of Superb Fairy-wrens
