Central Coast Wetland – 9 November 2020

Compared to some of my other visits to this wetland at Wyong, this one was relatively quiet.

I was after photos of Emu-wrens and also some of raptors. I did not see any Emu-wrens, but I did some raptors – but none very close.

As I walked in, I looked over towards the Whistling Kite nest. The  nest now looked deserted – I guess the chick I could see last visit has now fledged. I could see one Whistling Kite perched in the tree near the nest.

Closer to the Wetland, I spotted this Pipit

And here is a Great Egret

On the Pioneer Creek Walk, I saw this Pied Butcherbird – one of a breeding pair.

And in the distance, I did see a nice Swamp Harrier.

And, also a long way off, was this Whistling Kite

Another raptor flew past at high speed. It was a Peregrine Falcon

New back to some of the other birds. First Pelicans

Along the other creek, I spotted some Superb Fairy-wrens

A Lewin’s Honeyeater

Some Variegated Fairy-wrens

And a Eastern Spinebill

Back in the paddock, here is a Galah

And a Long-billled Corella

I only saw a single Cattle Egret  –

And here is a Magpie Lark in flight –

A long way off, as I was about to head home, I spotted these two Whistling Kites
