I had been on a lot of fungi trips recently, and now conditions were starting to get a little dry, so I thought it time to do a bird and whale trip. Malabar Headland sounded like a good place to visit.
Trackwork is starting on the headland between Magic Point and Boora Point, and it will mean that section of the Headland will be closed off for visitors for a few months (till September?). On this visit, the workers are only starting off and I was allowed to walk through, but further visits may be restricted.
On the walk out, I spotted a Nankeen Kestrel –
The New Holland Honeyeaters were active –
Here is a Silvereye –
The sea was quite powerful.
Superb Fairy-wren –
I did see a few whales but they were distant –
And a Peregrine Falcon flew past while I was having lunch, and I was not ready to take photograph. I grabbed my camera and snapped this shot was it was leaving.
Lots of Gannets flew past.
Pied Cormorant
Australasian Gannet
Another large bird flew past before I realised it. I think it may have been an Osprey.
Another distant whale –
And more New Holland Honeyeaters –
It is after an insect.
Crested Tern –
Another pleasant day on he headland.
Wonderful photos!
