Greenway Bird Survey – 25 February 2023

I took part in the bid survey along the Dulwich Hill section of The Greenway, early on Saturday morning. As usual, the group met outside the Waratah Mills Light Rail Station at 7:30 am.

While the group was gathering, we looked up and saw a flock of birds flying at high speed. They were White-throated Needletails.

They are a type of swift and fly around catching insects.

Meanwhile, we were being serenaded by the morning call if a Grey Butcherbird

Red Wattlebird

Pacific Koel (juvenile) –

Australasian Figbird

New Holland Honeyeaters

Willie Wagtail

Silvereye

Superb Fairy-wren

Welcome Swallow

And as we finished off, we saw the White-throated Needletails again –

As usual, once the survey was finished, we headed to a local cafe for morning tea.
