I had been on a great walk down the Cooks River in the morning, and as it was a nice day, I headed out to Sydney Park in the afternoon. I was hoping for another good bird photography session like I had had two afternoons before.
This session turned out to be much quieter – I spotted no Rails and no Dollarbird. Insead it was the Australasian Grebes that wanted to pose for photos.
There were three in the Island Pond. A juvenile and two adults.
Here is a White-faced Heron at the Island Pond –
Down at the Large Pond, here is a Turtle –
And a juvenile Dusky Moorhen –
Little Pied Cormorant
There were six Australasian Grebes in the pond. Here are three –
And for some reason they seemed to be squabbling. Perhaps males chasing females?
I bumped into another local bird photographer – Gokay, and he showed me where a pair of Tawny Frogmouths were roosting –
Back to the Grebes in the Large Pond –
This one is running away from another –
Some of the Eurasian Coots were also chasing each other –
And back to the Grebes again –
And these two Little Pied Cormorants seemed to be courting –
