Fungi at the Upper Natone Reserve – 21 July 2023

I was in Tasmania, on a family trip, accompanied by my sister and brother in law (who live in the Blue Mountains) and we were visiting our sister and brother in law, who live at West Ulverstone. I was fortunate to be able to fit in some fungi trips during my visit. This was the first – visiting the Upper Natone Reserve south of Burnie. On this visit I was joined by both of my sisters who did some great spotting.

I had been to the reserve on my previous visit to Tasmania. That was during May 2022, and then the fungi was generally a lot better.

Here is some of the fungi we saw –

Cortinarius rotundisporus

Clavulina cristata

Ramaria sp.

Jelly Fungus

Hygrocybe sp.

Clavulinopsis amoena

Leotica lubrica

Hygrocybe sp.

Jelly Fungus

Slime Mould

Hydnum repandum

Cortinarius rotundisporus

Chromelosporium carneum

This strange growth is the asexual stage of a Peziza sp. – a cup fungus.

This was growing on the end of a cut log –

Singerocybe clitocyboides

Jelly Fungus

Small grey fungi growing on wood –

This looks like a rather pale Hypocrea gelatinosa –

Hygrocybe sp.

And this may perhaps be an Entoloma sp. –

We finished at lunchtime, and then headed to Penguin.
