Cooling Off in Kangaroo Creek – 25 January 2024

I joined John and his two boys Jasper and Seby, for a walk to a nice swimming hole in Kangaroo Creek in Royal National Park. It was a warm day, and visiting a nice place to swim sounded like a good idea.

We travelled down by train, and were soon walking down to the pool. This took us through some nice woodlands.

At one spot, a Diamond Python was crossing the track in front of us.

After about an hour of walking we were at the pool. There is also a nice waterfall.

The pool was great for swimming.

Kangaroo Creek Falls

It was time to walk back to the station.

We spotted a few orchids –

Bonnet Orchids – Cryptostylis erecta

Large Tongue Orchid – Cryptostylis subulata (a bit past it best by date) –

Hyacinth Orchid – Dipodium variegatum

It had been a very pleasant day in the bush.
