I caught a train to Chatswood, and then walked down to Ferndale Park to see what fungi was out. There was not that much out, but I did find some interesting ones. After that, I continued walking down to the Lane Cove River and followed the track downstream to a sports oval to looks for Ospreys.
Here is some of the fungi out at Ferndale Park –
Russula sp.
Cyclomyces setiporus
I was pleased to spot a Cordyceps tenuipes –
Stereopsis hiscens
Amparoina spinosissima
Omphalotus nidiformis
Tremella sp. (jelly) and Hypoxylon sp. (black blobs)
The black blobs – The Hypoxylon are hard to see against the wood – they are left and right of the jelly. I think the jelly feeds off the Hypoxylon.
Ganoderma australe
Cyclomyces setiporus
Antrodiella zonata
Cyptotrama asprata
Lactarius eucalypti
Perhaps Collybia sp.
Fomitopsis hartmannii
There were quite a few of these large polypores growing in the same spot that I had seen them growing at this time of their year in 2019 and 2020. They were previously known as Laccocephalum hartmannii.
I think there are all Trogia sp.
Chlorociboria aeruginascens
As I moved down Swaines Creek, I was on the lookout for Powerful Owls. I have seen some roosting in this area before, but this time had no luck spotting any. Looking up, I did see this Brush Turkey –
And a few more birds –
Laughing Kookaburra
White-browed Scrubwren
And the Osprey nest was still there, but I saw no sign of Ospreys, but I did not stay for very long.
