I made a morning trip to get an update on the fungi I had seen the week before in a small section of the Lane Cove River in Lane Cove National Park. In particular I was interested in the Parrot Waxcap – Gliophorus psittacinus.
Walking down to the location, I found this nice Ramaria lorithamnus –
When I arrived at the location, I looked at the spot I had seen a number of the Gliophorus psittacinus group the week before, but this time I could not spot any. I looked very carefully for these small hard to spot mushrooms but had no luck.
So I had a lot for the tiny corals. I soon found plenty to keep me busy.
Ramariopsis kunzei
These were much larger. Clavulinopsis amoena –
Ramariopsis kunzei
And some waxcaps, Cuphophyllus austropratensis –
Back to the small corals. These are all really small – most less than 1 cm tall. You need to be low down to find them.
Ramariopsis sp.
Ramariopsis kunzei
Ramariopsis simplex
Ramariopsis simplex has a distinct base, which you can see in the photo below –
These red corals were very tiny. Perhaps Clavulinopsis sp. –
And more of the light brown Ramariopsis sp. –
Clavulinopsis amoena
Hypholoma fasciculare
Hygrocybe reesiae
Camarophyllopsis sp.
And more of the light brown Ramariopsis sp. –
Clavulinopsis sp.
I gave often seen Corybas Orchids in this spot. I had to look carefully this time, and I eventually spotted some.
Clavulina cinerea
And then I found a single Gliophorus psittacinus group fungus. I moved it slightly to see it gills, and it stuck to me and unfortunately broke off. It was about 20 m from the usual location.
