Bola Creek and the Hacking River – 5 September 2018

I spent and pleasant and interesting day with Digi Dave in the southern part of Royal National Park. There had been some recent rain, so we first visited Bola Creek to see if any fungi was out.

It was late in the fungi season, and also there had not been that much rain, so the fungi that was out was not that great. But we did find a few interesting things –

Bactridium flavum

There was also a Lyrebird scratching amongst the leaf litter –

We then headed to one of the picnic area river flats along the Hacking River.

A number of birds were out –

Eastern Yellow Robin

Striated Thornbill

Digi Dave and a Magpie

Grey Fantail

Juvenile Crimson Rosellas

Sulphur Crested Cockatoo

We then headed out to the lookout at Otford.

Then back to another of the flats near the Hacking River. This one close to the old Lilydale Station.

Eastern Yellow Robin

Lewin’s Honeyeater

Bassian Thrush

And a Grey Fantail hunting for insects –
