I traveled up to Long Reef on the Northern Beaches for another day of bird photography. On this visit, it was a bit quiet at times, but I did see a variety of raptors.
When I arrived at the lookout, there was an Osprey circling around –
After walking down to the lower level, I spotted an Osprey eating a large fish out on the island. The tide was fairly high, so I was unable to walk out closer.
Then I saw another Osprey fly past with a fish.
It was pretty quiet down on this level, and I could see a pair of Nankeen Kestrels hunting on the south side of the lookout area, so I climbed back up to the top to photograph them.
And then another raptor appeared – a juvenile Black-shouldered Kite –
Unfortunately it didn’t stay for long. I think the two Kestrels didn’t want it hunting in their territory.
Back to the Nankeen Kestrels –
One settled down for a rest –
The other was still in the air –
The Kestrels both then left the area. So I descended to the lower level again. Then I spotted an Osprey flying past with a fish –
The Osprey on the island was still there all this time –
I finished with a few shots of a White-faced Heron –
