I decided it was about time to visit Nurragingy Reserve again. So I caught a train to Doonside and was in the Reserve a little after 8 am.

When I arrived, I first had a look at the ponds in the garden section of the Reserve. There was a one Little Pied Cormorant hunting for fish –

I then went into the bush part of the Reserve. The long skinny pond was quiet, and so where the ponds near the miniature railway. I did hear a Sacred Kingfisher, but I could not spot it. So I then started off on the perimeter firetrail.
Early on I spotted a few parrots –
Galah

Eastern Rosella

On the remote part- where the fire trail goes next to creek, I could hear a lot of birds chattering away, but very few appeared. Before long, I was back at the ponds. This time I did spot the Sacred Kingfisher. It was still calling.

And then a second Sacred Kingfisher appeared –

But the first one was closer –

I then walked around the ponds again, and then set off for my second walk on the perimeter firetrail. This time, I was a lot more successful. Early on I did spot some goats. Here is one –

Here are some of the birds I saw –
Eastern Yellow Robin

Yellow-faced Honeyeater

Scarlet Honeyeater

Noisy Friarbird

White-browed Scrubwren

Silvereye

A female Scarlet Honeyeater –

Brown Gerygone

Golden Whistler

Then back at the ponds, I spent a bit more time with the Sacred Kingfishers.

A Great Egret appeared –

I then tried to get some flight shots of the Sacred Kingfisher –

I then met another photographer, Wayne. I had met him on an earlier visit, and he knows the Reserve well. We then went looking for birds, and we spotted one of the resident Azure Kingfishers –

And at the same pond – there was a Buff-banded Rail foraging –

I would have liked to stay longer, but was meeting a friend for some indoor climbing a bit later in the afternoon.
