Grand Canyon – 4 February 2024

John and Chuin Nee invited me to join them and their two boys, Jasper and Sebastian, on a trip down The Grand Canyon at Blackheath.

We had a very good day. The previous evening we had been at a BBQ at Blackheath, and had stayed overnight. After breakfast at Blackheath, we headed to the start of the canyon. We entered via the Pilcher Track.

More friends were also visiting the canyon, and we met them at the abseil. Here is Keith on the abseil –

And then I absolved down to join them.

Next down was Seby –

Then it was Jasper’s turn –

After John and Chuin Nee abseiled down, we continued through the canyon.

We stopped for lunch at a nice sunny spot in the canyon.

The lower section of  canyon is particularly spectacular and beautiful –

And the canyon finishes with a long swim.

After this we followed the old tourist track down to the main track.

And then we climbed back up the Pilcher Track.

As we climbed, the air became mush hotter – around 34°C. Visiting a nice cold canyon had been a great idea.
