I decided on a visit to the Lane Cove River to document how the Parrot Waxcaps were going.
I walked down to where they are, and soon located one of the ones I had seen on my previous visit six days before. It was the only one of them still intact. The others had either fallen to bits or fallen over. Here it is, and it is looking a bit dry.
Gliophorus psittacinus group
But I found a newer one nearby –
Here is another view of it.
Then I spotted two more very fresh ones –
And later , when looking at the photos, I can see there are actually three.
One small area, nearby, I had already looked at very carefully at least twice. But another more careful examination, using a light, revealed two more very fresh ones –
Both of these were only about 10 12 mm tall, and extremely difficult to spot against the moss background. It pays to look very carefully and thoroughly.
Some other fungi nearby –
Ramariopsis sp.
Instead of walking out, I decided to do a longer walk up the Lane Cove River to awww what else was out. I did not find too much. But here is some –
Hydnum repandum
Cortinarius rotundisporus
Russula persanguinea
And some Pixie Cap Orchids – Acianthus fornicatus
An interesting outing.
