I was visiting my sister and her husband at Hazelbrook, and was able to join there my other sister. While enjoying their hospitality I was able to photograph some of the Eastern Spinebills that visit their garden.

This was an interesting visit to the Newington Armory part of Sydney Olympic Park with The Sydney Fungal Studies Group Inc. The group had been invited there to conduct a fungal survey.

This was a very rewarding trip down Sassafras Gully – starting from the track at the end of Sassafras Gully Road, then down to Glenbrook Creek and out via Magdala Creek and Fairy Dell. There was a reasonable amount of fungi and slime moulds out.

I got home early from my Lane Cove fungi walk, so later that afternoon I cycled down to the Cooks River, with my camera to see what birds were out. At the Boat Harbour, I soon spotted two tawny Frogmouths perched in a tree.

This was a pleasant and interesting walk from Taronga Zoo around the harbour on the Coastal Track to Middle Head. It was led by Brian Everingham for the National Parks Association of NSW.

This was a solo photographic walk along the Coastal Track in Royal National Park. I started the walk from Otford and finished at Bundeena.
On this trip, I concentrated on photos near the rock platforms south of Burning Palms. These rock platforms can get quite crowded with Instagrammers, and to get good landscape photos you need low tides and swell to access the platforms and wait until the Instagrammers have left. Dollar Bird
Not that many birds were out. The usual birds were there – Black-winged Stilts and some White-faced Herons. No Avocets this visit. I did spot a nice Black-fronted Dotterel. These small birds are usually very shy, but this one flew down quite close to me. Continue reading
