I spent an interesting and enjoyable day wandering down the Two Valleys Track from Bexley North to Tempe and then crossing the Pacific Highway and looking for birds in Tempe Wetlands.
I could hear quite a few birds along Wolli Creek, but I had trouble photographing them. A lot, I could not spot, and some others like a Rufous Fantail were too quick for me. Here are some of the birds I did photograph along the creek. Continue reading

Our Bushcare Group spent a day weeding at west Head in Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park.
On the day, we weeded close to the lookout – in the same general area that we had weeded the year before. The main weed we were removing was Mother of Millions. Continue reading
I made a visit to see the outdoor sculptures at Sculpture By the Sea, which is held each year along the Coastal Path between Tamarama and Bondi Beach. After that, I continue waking north to Watsons Bay, where I caught a ferry back to the city.
The sculptures are always interesting and well worth seeing. Quite a few of them look almost like repeats from previous years, with slight modifications. Perhaps that is due to the artistic style and the materials used by the various sculptors. Others are quite refreshingly different. Here are some of my photos – Continue reading

After seem recent rain, I thought it would be worthwhile to visit Ferndale Park at Chatswood to see if any fungi or slime moulds were out.

It was the week of the Aussie Bird Count. I was taking part this year as a member of the Tempe Birdos. The bird count sessions take 20 minutes, and I recorded the birds I saw on an app on my phone. I did two sessions at the Wetlands and one at the Reserve.

I made another trip to Malabar Headland National Park. I had not planned to go so recently after my previous visit, but the weather forecast was not suitable for the alternative trip – so I decided to revisit Malabar Headland. One motivation was to see if the young Peregrine Falcon chick was now flying.
In contrast to the previous visit – no whales or seals. But the Peregrine Falcons were a lot more active and I was able to photograph both the parents and their chick. The chick was away from their clifftop nest area – and was thus able to fly. Continue reading
I had been a while since I had visited the Zoo, and also possible thunderstorms had been predicted – and I thought the Zoo may be a good place for some storm watching if a thunderstorm passed over the city. And there is also plenty of shelter at the Zoo if it does get really wet.

I spent an interesting day in the Northern Beaches area of Sydney photographing birds. I travelled by train to Gordon and they caught a 197 bus to Ingleside. I then walked out to the Chiltern Trail.
It was relatively quiet. I was after honeyeaters – but not too many were around, or if they were they were quiet. Here are some birds I photographed – a New Holland Honeyeater, A Eastern yellow Robin and a Fairy-wren. Continue reading
